Perfecte uitvalsbasis in de leukste wijk van Rome
10.0Wat een topligging! HQH Daplace ligt in Via dei Serpenti, midden in de bruisende Monti-wijk en op amper tien minuten wandelen van het Colosseum. Eigenlijk lag alles op wandelafstand: het Forum Romanum, de Trevifontein, Piazza Venezia... we hebben de metro nauwelijks nodig gehad. De kamer zelf was heel proper en verrassend ruim, en de airco werkte uitstekend – geen overbodige luxe in de Romeinse zomer. We sliepen er heerlijk. We kozen bewust voor een verblijf zonder ontbijt, en dat raden we iedereen aan: de buurt zit vol leuke koffiebarretjes waar je 's ochtends zoals de locals aan de toog een cappuccino met een verse croissant neemt. Veel authentieker (en lekkerder) dan een hotelbuffet. Monti is sowieso een aanrader als buurt: veel gezellige restaurantjes en leuke winkeltjes, en 's avonds verzamelen de Romeinen zelf rond de fontein op Piazza della Madonna dei Monti voor een glas wijn. Heerlijke sfeer, en toch geen massatoerisme. Kortom: wij komen zeker terug!
