Lovely hosts, lovely place, affordable
9.0The family that runs this hostel is absolutely lovely! So kind and welcoming. The owner allowed me to drop off my bags before I checked in, and leave them at the hostel after I checked out. Communication was quick and accommodating. The place itself has a ton of great amenities available to guests. My favorite is the traditional Japanese tea area with free tea and coffee. Everything is comfortable and clean. The hostel is located in a long shopping mall, which made it easy to find. There’s a 7-11 and train station a few minutes walk away. I highly recommend Sato-sans Rest!
− I stayed in the mixed dormitory which was clean and comfy, but I didn’t like that the curtains separating the beds are slightly see-through. The man next to me could see what I was doing—when I was changing, when I woke up and went to sleep, etc. That was a bit disconcerting for me. Every other hostel I’ve been to has wooden boards or opaque curtains separating the beds for sufficient privacy, and I think it would be great if this hostel implements that. As is typical with most hostels, this place was pretty inconvenient for someone on their period. The toilets and showers and sinks are all very spread out and the trash cans are tiny and only available in toilet rooms. I’m used to these problems in hostels, but it’s still something that could be improved a bit here. Lastly, the owner allowed me to drop off my luggage before I could check into my room and to leave my luggage after I checked out so I could explore the city without it. This was very kind, of course, but it stressed me out a bit that there was no secure place to leave my bag. The owner had me leave my backpack in the mixed dormitory the first time and in the lobby the second time (and the family was out, so there was no staff to keep an eye on my belongings). I think it’s great that the owner trusts the hostel guests so much, but I don’t haha. I think it would ease guests’ nerves if there was a coin locker or safe or some other secure spot to leave their luggage/valuables. Those are all quite small issues I had with the hostel. It was a very nice place to stay with amazing hosts and a lovely location. Very very worth the money
Perfect authentic homestay with lovely people and great location
10.0The authenticity of both the people who run the place and the place itself is extraordinary. We had the perfect experience, perfect value. The location is exactly what you need it to be for a multiday stay in Tokyo
